Golden Team Soccer

Brittany Matthew Matthews was the first American soccer player to play in the Women’s World Cup in 2014, and she was just getting started.

Matthews, who grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida, began playing soccer at the age of 4, when she attended a local junior-high soccer program.

After attending Florida State University, Matthews played for two years in the US Soccer Development Academy before joining the National Team Development Program.

The U.S. women’s national team trained in Orlando, Florida on March 12, 2018.

In the 2016 World Cup, Matthews was named to the FIFA Women’s Gold Cup squad.

She played against Japan and Germany, and scored twice in a 2-1 win against Brazil.
