Liverpool have agreed a £15million deal with German side Bayer Leverkusen for defender Jordan Henderson.
The 26-year-old, who has not played for Liverpool since signing from Chelsea in 2013, will wear the captain’s armband at Anfield.
He will join the club in the coming weeks after the Liverpool Echo reported on Sunday that the England international had been told he could leave Anfield.
Leverkusen are reportedly preparing for the end of the season, with a deal in place for next season.
The German side, who finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season, are set to pay around £20m for the 24-year.
Henderson will join up with the Reds’ under-23s in their Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona, but he has not yet signed a contract with the Premier League club.
Liverpool will travel to Paris to face Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday, before travelling to Marseille for the quarter-finals against Manchester City on Wednesday.
